Introduction
Top N analysis helps stakeholders focus their attention and resources on the most significant factors driving success or performance within a given dataset or system.
Here are some common use cases across different domains:
Sales and Marketing:
Identifying top-selling products or services to optimize marketing strategies.
Analyzing top-performing sales representatives or regions to allocate resources effectively.
Identifying high-value customers for targeted marketing campaigns or personalized offers.

Analyzing top-selling products or categories to optimize inventory management and pricing strategies.

Defining Top N in a visualization
Enabling Top N
The top N setting is found in the Data tab of a visualization in the limiting section.
To enable it, activate the switch.
Defining Top N
The number defines the number of visible entities in the dimension; it can be set manually or by a variable.
Using a variable allows end-users to change the number of displayed entities in the visualization on the fly.Dimension to use:
This defines the business question that visualization answers.
Consider this dot plot that shows the revenue for each product in each country
Now consider the different options:
All-
The chart will display each country's top three products. The products might be different for each country.

Outer dimension-
In this chart country, this will show all the products in the top three overall countries.
Please take a look at the image below.Inner dimension-
This chart shows the revenue in each country for the top three products overall. The chart will show only three products.

Show others-
this will add another record to the chart that groups all other values excluded by the top n setting.
Others position- control where the others record will be displayed
By default is will use the sorting method of the visualization.
There are options to force the others record to be displayed first or last.Others label- customize the label for the new record.
In the image below it will group all the countries that aren't in the top 3 the other group is sorted by default setting.
Rank measure-
This setting defines the measure for ranking.
The first measure in the visualization is used for the ranking by default.Sort order- defines if you are looking for the top n or the bottom n
Known Limitations
The Others record is not selectable- the others record can't be used to filter the dimension.
Pivot table and Expandable table are not supported.
Calculated dimensions such as grouped date fields and width-bucket dimensions are not supported.
