Introduction

This article shows you how to start using the Action Bar in the Astrato workbook editor.

Getting Started

Under the top bar, you'll see the Action Bar, which contains settings for managing the sheets displayed in the Sheet (Figure 1). By default, the content area will display the Home sheet. The open sheet is always highlighted in red.

Now we're going to look at the controls in the action bar, starting from the left. These settings can be used to work with sheets and objects you've added to the sheet.

Working with Sheets

In the action bar, you can use several commands to manage the sheets in your workbook.

  • Select a Sheet by choosing one from the dropdown list.

  • Create a new sheet by clicking the add button to the right and selecting a Layout from the list of pre-loaded templates.

  • Click on the sheet name to re-name the sheet.

  • Edit sheet properties using the Sheets layers settings, either by clicking Manage sheets in the dropdown, or clicking the toolbar Sheets icon. There are options to Duplicate, Delete or Rename a sheet.

  • Click the sheet name to open a list of the data objects added to the sheet. There are one-click icons to Lock or Hide the data object, and clicking the dots to the right opens a menu with further options to copy, rename, duplicate and delete the object.

Figure 2 shows the Data Objects sheet being opened, and a pie chart object being hidden and un-hidden.

  • Use the Back and Forward step buttons on the right of the action bar to roll back or re-apply changes you've made.

Working with Objects

If you select an Object in your sheet, you'll see the object controls displayed in the action bar (Figure 4).

  • Use the Lock, Duplicate or Delete buttons to make changes to your object.

  • Click the Back or Forward buttons to roll back or re-apply changes you've made, just the same as in a sheet.

Objects also have Grouping and Overlay controls you can use to align groups of objects and layer them on top of each other in the sheet. In Figure 5 you can see a text object moved to the topmost layer, then moved backwards and objects being grouped and aligned.

Figure 5: Layering and Grouping

The overlay icon is activated when you have objects arranged in layers. Select the object, then select one of the controls to move it.

  • Send Back moves the object back to the bottommost layer (behind all other objects), while Send Backwards moves the object back one layer.

  • Send Top moves the object forward to the topmost object layer, while Send Forward moves the object forward one layer.

Activate the grouping icon by dragging the cursor to select the objects for the group, or holding down the Shift key and clicking on each object you want to group

  • Click the Group icon and select an option. You can select individual objects within the group by double-clicking on them.

  • Click the Ungroup icon to ungroup the objects.
