Introduction
This article looks at the number of data object (KPI object) in Astrato.
Using Key Performance Indicator (KPI) objects in data analytics dashboards provides several essential business benefits:
Quick performance assessment: KPI objects allow decision-makers to gauge performance against critical metrics at a glance rapidly.
Goal alignment: They help align team efforts with organizational objectives by highlighting the most critical metrics.
Trend visualization: KPI objects often include trend indicators, enabling users to understand performance direction over time quickly.
Actionable insights: Well-designed KPI objects can prompt immediate action when metrics fall outside acceptable ranges.
Improved focus: By emphasizing key metrics, KPI objects help prevent information overload and maintain focus on what's most important.
Standardization: They promote consistency in performance measurement across departments or the organization.
Efficiency: KPI objects reduce the time needed to analyze data, allowing for faster decision-making.

A number data object displays a number on a workbook sheet. Figure 1 shows an example of a number being added to a sheet in a workbook.

Number Object (KPI) Types
Astrato already supports multiple number types (Table 1), all of which come with controls for font color, font size, number formatting, and an icon picker. Once the number is added, you can select a measure to display.

Data Tab
This tab is where the data to be used in the object and coloring rules for the results are defined.
Measure- The main Number (KPI) to display
Comparison- optional measure to show, there are four types of comparisons:

Difference- calculated using this formula:

Comparison number- showing the value of the comparison measure.
Thresholds: Define coloring rules for the measures. Coloring helps highlight the critical numbers and draws user attention to them.
Multiple thresholds can be defined.
There are several settings for coloring:Type-coloring threshold type
Target- except for one value of three colors for above target, target, and below target, each color can also be highlighted with a different Icon.
Please take a look at the image below for an example.
Tolerance- is calculated in relation to the target.
Range- give more control over coloring by defining any number of ranges for coloring.
Measure- select the measure that will be used to evaluate the coloring results.
Color- Define which of the measures should be colored.
Style Tab
This tab defines the styling of the object, such as font type size and position inside the object.
Container Settings
This tab is where the title and coloring of the object can be defined, among other options.
