Install the Astrato Excel Add-in

Before you can connect Excel to Astrato, the Add-in needs to be added to Excel. There are two ways to get it: add it yourself from Microsoft Marketplace, or have it deployed to you by your IT administrator.

Before You Start

You need:

  • An Astrato account with access to at least one semantic layer. The Add-in has no standalone functionality without an Astrato environment. New to Astrato? Reach out to hello@astrato.io.

  • Excel on Windows, Mac, or the web. On the web, use a current version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Apple Safari.

Add It Yourself from Microsoft Marketplace

If your organization allows individuals to add Office Add-ins, you can install it in a few clicks:

  1. Open Excel.

  2. On the Home tab, select Add-ins.

  3. Choose Get Add-ins (or More Add-ins) to open Microsoft Marketplace.

  4. Search for Astrato Excel Add-in.

  5. Select Add, then accept the prompt to enable it.

The Add-in installs for your account and is available the next time you open Excel.

Get It from Your IT Administrator

In many organizations, a Microsoft 365 administrator deploys the Add-in centrally and assigns it to users or groups. If that applies to you, you do not need to install anything — the Add-in appears in Excel automatically once your admin has assigned it.

If you expect the Add-in but do not see it, contact your IT administrator to confirm it has been assigned to you.

Open the Add-in

Once installed, an Open Astrato button appears on the Excel Home ribbon. Select it to open the Astrato task pane on the right.

Next Step

The task pane opens with Connect to Astrato. Continue with Connect to Astrato to sign in and start creating datasets.
