Introduction

In this article, we show you how to connect your Astrato workspace to Google Sheets. It's designed to be a quick process, and easy to follow.

Please note: Custom measures are not supported with Google Sheets.

Data connection details required

Before you can set up your data connection, you'll need the following:

  • Connection name: give this data connection a distinct name.

  • Google Sheet - the sheet you'll be using as a data source; you can use the sheet name or the spreadsheet URL or ID.

  • Google account: you'll need to be logged in to the Google account you want to use or enter your username and password when asked. When you log in, Google will ask you to consent to Astrato being able to access your Google workspace (Sheets and Drive).

Creating your connection to Google Sheets

  • Select Data in the sidebar and click Create Data to open the Create New Data Source screen (Figure 1).

  • Click on the Google Sheets icon.

  • When the Connect to a Google spreadsheet page opens, you can search for a spreadsheet and select it or enter a Google Spreadsheet URL or ID.

  • Select the spreadsheet you want to use, then click Connect.

  • The Data View Editor displays if the connection is successful and the data source is created.

Troubleshooting

If you get an error about connecting to Google Sheets, please check the sheet name or URL/ID, and try to connect again.

You can find more information in our Astrato Troubleshooting Guide. If you still get an error, click the chat icon (bottom right) to raise a support ticket (Figure 2).
